These are Dr Martin Angel's records of macro-moths in the Wrecclesham area. Macro-moths are the larger moth species, generally more well-known and easier to identify, though as you can see there are still a lot of similar-looking species that take the expert eye to distinguish!

Ecology. Widspread throughout much of UK in woodland, gardens and hedgerows. In Surrey it is the commonest of the genus.
Food plants: Oak, Birch, Elm, Sallow, Aspen, Ash, Hazel, Hawthorn and Blackthorn
